Suspension insulators support the electrode grids inside an electrostatic desalter or dehydrator. The insulating section separates the energized grid from the grounded vessel supports while the end fittings provide the mechanical connection.
The illustrated assembly combines a cylindrical insulating body with metal end fittings. Selection depends on the mounting arrangement, electrode load and operating conditions; connection dimensions and electrical requirements are confirmed for each project.
The example drawing specifies a PTFE insulating body. The dimensions below describe that reference design; actual dimensions, connections, electrical performance and mechanical loading must follow the agreed project drawings.
Rotate and zoom to explore the three electrode layers and their suspension insulators. Separate the layers to inspect the arrangement.
